Exporter of the Year 2009 is Falc East company from Knjazevac. The award for the Best Export Product went to Aero East Europe from Kraljevo, while the Conquering the New Market award was given to Hemofarm from Vrsac. The SME Exporter of the Year is a Belgrade based company PStech. Finally, a special recognition in the latter category was awarded to DMV Industrial Control Systems from Nis and Gowi from Pancevo.
Falc East received the award for accomplishing a grand export share in the total sales figure of 95.65%, an increase of employees, conquering of new export markets and new production investments. The company demonstrated that good examples of foreign investment have an excellent export perspective. For the Best Export Product 2009, a light aircraft named Embera, a product of Aero East Europe company, entirely manufactured in Serbia was rewarded. In the category of SME, the awards went to three enterprises. PStech was awarded for outstanding export activities in the markets of EU and USA, as well as for cooperation with international ICT giants. Secondly, DMV Industrial Control Systems managed to enlarge its export figure for 63% in 2009 and remain loyal to production of high quality displays from LED diodes, exported to over 50 countries worldwide, thus receiving the award. Finally, Gowi company increased its exports by 94.74 % in 2009, invested in development of new products and achieved an exemplary business success in the UK market. The award for Conquering the New Market 2009 went to Hemofarm, for its successful sales of pharmaceutical products in the demanding market of the U.S., despite sharp global competition. Not only are these products new and entirely made in Serbia, but they also received an FDA certificate.
This year's sponsors for the Exporter of the Year event were: DHL International Belgrade, providing €15,000 in export services to Hemofarm, Folksbank Serbia, which awarded a cheque for €15,000 to PStech and, finally, Orange studio, providing €15,000 to Aero East Europe for promotional marketing campaign. The official partner of the event was Mikroelektronika.
The expert committee that decided on the winners included: Nenad Ilic, Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, Mihailo Vesovic, Vice President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Voja Stevanovic, Editor of the Economist magazine, Sasa Veljkovic, Professor at the University of Economy in Belgrade and Vesna Peric, Director of SIEPA, as a President of the Committee. SIEPA established this renowned award in 2004 as a stimulus for new export activities of the leading Serbian exporters. The award grants the winner an exclusive right of using the logo "Exporter of the Year" on all its materials.
